Ugh, why does this world have to revolve around money and how much we can make?! lol. Okay, I am stressed because the job I have right now is just not cutting it when it comes to making money; I am a full time student (final year!!), and work part time. However, the part time job is not exactly giving me set hours; I call in every day I am not scheduled to work to see if they need anyone, and then wait by the phone all day to see if they are going to call me in. I hate making so little money while my Fiance is out busting his tooshie for our future and I am not contributing as much as I could. Any other future brides feeling this way?? He does NOT want me to apply for a second job, since he wants me to be successful in school (he’s so good to me), but how do I find odd/easy jobs to just add to the paycheck I am already recieving? Any ideas, comments, advice? LOL. Sorry, know this is long, but I am just tired of worrying about money!

I would check with your school. There may be work on campus that you could do. I worked in the alumni office at my college and usually there are all sorts of administrative jobs that are available. Also, a lot of colleges will have a program where you can sign up to babysit/nanny for area children. That way parents can call into the school to get reliable child care.

That sounds perfect actually!! I will most def look into my school’s opportunities when the semester starts (three weeks and counting lol). I also was debating whether or not to apply to Care.com since they specialize in helping famlies find nannies, tutors, house-sitters, etc. I have a friend who is an after-school tutor, so she is looking into finding me a position asap, and my mom is actually an advisory teacher at a charter school, so she may have some good leads on babysitting/nanny jobs. I just feel horrble, the Fiance works 12 hour days and I feel like a bump on a log just sitting at home, cleaning and/or organizing the same stuff…I love to work, and work hard for my money, so it just frustrates me that this part-time job is not as steady as I need it to be.

Have you tried serving? That is what I did when i was in school and I made great money (considering the hours I was working).

No, actually I haven’t! What was it like?? I am really thinking about just applying for a second job (…will talk to the Fiance, promise!), whether it be serving or babysitting for a few days out of the week, and when the summer hits, I’ll be making better money than I am now…I save, he saves, both work like crazy, so we can do this, right?!! LOL. Thank you fellow bees so glad I found this site.

To add to what Moose1209 said. Some schools will even give you a discount on tuition if you work on campus, so this is definitely something to consider. I have also done nannying and serving and made good money doing both. I definitely feel your pain regarding money. We both work full time and I am a full-time student, but it STILL doesn’t seem like enough, especially with wedding expenses added to our bills. I wish I could win that $330,000,000 megamillions jackpot tonight!!!

I know a few friends in college were nannys and made decent extra cash. Parents would always drop ads in the college newspaper.

I did some babysitting on the side while I was in school. You could try that.
