It seems to me if you want everyone to stay over you are going to have to pay for their rooms.  It’s like wanting a sit down dinner but asking people to pay for their dinner.  Just tack it on to the rest of your expenses!!  320 * 23 = 7360.  It might be a lot but I think if you have the budget it’s worth it.

Well, if you had any sort of destination wedding (not too distant), I’m assuming etiquette doesn’t dictate that the bride and groom pay for all guest rooms. I’m having my wedding 1.5 hours away from SF along a windy rural road. Most guests prefer to stay the night anyway. Am I paying for their rooms? No. (well, we’re helping some for those with limited means). It may be against etiquette, but your dream wedding sounds like my dream wedding. My reception is at a vacation home and I plan to spend an extended weekend there with our families. My house is much smaller than what you are proposing though so it was no trouble to fill up 6 rooms. I had our immediate families chip in for their rooms. Your rooms are more expensive so maybe pay an estimate of difference in price between what they would have paid for a room elsewhere vs the price where you have in mind? Do you have plenty of close family and friends that could conceivably fill up the rooms so you can have this conversation with them about your thoughts and know they will be supportive, answer honestly about whether or not they want to stay there, etc.? Honestly, if you have lots of close family and friends, I think they would be thrilled to stay at one location. Or, if you’re not comfortable with this, your wedding is a ways away and perhaps you could focus much of your wedding savings on the accommodations.

How fun!
