- Wedding: October 2009
I’ve gotta be honest: planning from afar with less than two months to go is stressful. If something falls through you can’t just pick up the phone and make other appointments (vent-sorry)
I just had another vendor, a florist, quote me one price and then “not understand” (not my needs but theirs) and mark it up 30%. We are having a woodland evening tea party wedding at a historic mansion. I wanted blues, greens, whites, light pink with any of these materials: flowers (whatever is in season), twigs, branches, lotus pods, pussywillows. I am not a “I need to have this kind of flower” bride. We have bud vases in clusters of three at each table. For the tables I could probably go to the flower mart and deal with myself with the help of my DOC and BMs. I’d rather not though.
I’ve seen paper, button and clay flowers. None of these appeal to me. I really do want real flowers. We will be at my mothers and she’s not the type that will want buckets of flowers in her house. She lives in a condo so no backyard. Local friends live in NYC. So the making of the DIY route would be challenging.
I’m sorry this has turned into a vent. I am begging for suggestions here. Wedding is OCT 10th in CT. ANy CT brides with affordable and creative florists? Creative DIY ideas?
