After many weeks of searching for a venue and waiting what seemed like months to get an appointment at these places, I have found the PERFECT venue for my wedding…but, of course there’s a problem…
The venue is booked every Saturday until December.
There is a possibility that there will be an opening for Sept. 21st though!
The person who booked the venue for that day has until 5pm today(Monday) to pay the deposit, or else they forfeit their reservation, and then I can get it! The lady is supposed to call as soon as she knows.
August 17th is also a possibility, as she says the person who booked it really doesn’t want that date, and they may cancel…but don’t know a timeline on that.
So far, have heard nothing over the weekend, so no news is good news right?
So, we talk to the lady and she says the girl never came by today to pay her deposit, nor has she called her today. She says “As far as I’m concerned, it’s yours for that date” but then says, “I am double checking my paperwork right now and have been too busy to check the mail, so once I make sure she didn’t mail a check, I will let you know for sure”
@MrsWBS: Yes, 9 months is not long at all…but I feel like once we can get the venue set everything else will fall into place. My Fiance and I have been together for almost 7 years, and I have been “planning out” this wedding for almost 2 years…we just have to actually set a date so I can move forward with everything else!
@03KM0: Oh no!! Hope you find another venue! This has got to be by far THE most stressful thing about wedding planning! We weren’t really set on Sept. 21, we kept the date narrowed down to sometime around August-October.
The lady is supposed to let us know this morning…still early here, before 8am…so I am at work obsessively checking my phone! LOL
Yes, we are prepared to pay the deposit as soon as we have the confirmation that it’s available!!
The venue is an old railroad station that’s been renovated and is used as the civic center. It has exposed red brick walls, beautiful old wood plank floors and a ceiling that is to die for! The ceiling is a high vaulted ceiling with wood beams running the width of the building. If I wasn’t at work, I could post pics…maybe I’ll get to it later if my dreams aren’t crushed! 🙂
It is located right by the waterfront of the town, where there is a huge white gazebo where I would LOVE to have the ceremony. However, I am apprehensive about spending the money to reserve the outdoor space through the parks dept., rent chairs, and then have it rain and end up eating that money…however, the good thing is we can do the ceremony and the reception both in the venue. (The venue supplies tables and chairs, but we cannot take them outside of the building.)
im passing on a little bit of venue good luck to you! i decided last week (so quite last minute as wedding is in 2 months) to change my venue as i decided it was too expensive and the people werent very nice. I sent an email to my second choice that i wished i’d chosen, thinking itd be pretty much hopeless and amazingly my date is the only saturday in the next 6 months free so i could book it! hopefully you’ll be lucky too!
