I’m sorry your beta wasn’t higher. I’ve been rooting for you to have a successful transfer. Unfortuantely all you can really do is tell yourself that you are pregnant right now and you will be until the tests show you aren’t. It’s possible that it’s a chemical pregnancy and you had more hcg in your system earlier and now the bloodwork is catching it on its way down. Or you could see your number greatly improve tomorrow. Your beta is much earlier than mine was and my clinic likes to see above 80, but that’s 11 days post transfer so I don’t have much of a gauge to tell you if 18 is OK or not.

It’s really promising that it’s darker! Fingers crossed you get a good result when you go in for your next beta!

@BeepBopB00p:  8 days post transfer does seem a little early for a beta, so hopefully that is just an indication that they brought you in a bit early and things will double nicely from here. It’s early days, so really hard to know anything until you have had at least two betas, maybe even three, but you’re over the first hurdle of getting a positive beta!

I also wanted to add that it seems like digitals can be much more sensitive than they claim (and that’s probably the case with all HPTs). I think the number they cite simply means that if you have that much HCG in your sample you will definitely get a positive, but it’s not a guarantee that having a lower amount won’t also show a positive. Rather, I think it’s their guarantee that if you have a certain level or more of HCG in your sample, you will get a positive. There seem to be a lot of women online who have had this experience (I was curious so I did a bit of searching around forums) where the HPT they took ended up being much more sensitive than it’s claimed level of sensitivity.

How did your second beta go? Been rooting for you, since I saw your update in the October infertility board. My clinic does a first beta at 9DPT, and they want it to be between 50-100. I ended up doing my beta at 8DPT  and my beta was 70. Fingers crossed for you!

Congratulations! I browse the infertility boards every now and then because although I’m not TTC I do have PCOS and expect our journey will be a long one, but that’s not the point. I had just wanted to say that I’ve been rooting for you and am really chuffed for you with those numbers!

@BeepBopB00p:  Yay!!! I’m so happy to hear that your levels are doing great!

I was going to say that I always have abnormally low HCG levels compared to the darkness of my pregnancy tests. My doctor also says that I test obnoxiously early.

Last year, with my first miscarriage, my levels were crap. 9 at 11DPO, 35 at 17DPO, 65 at 19DPO, etc. Just not so great. Then with my second miscarriage, my HCG was 14 and I miscarried before I could come back. My third miscarriage my HCG was at 10 and I again miscarried before I could come back.

When I got pregnant in May, I got a positive on a digital 5 days before my missed period. I was CERTAIN my HCG levels would be good. Well, when they called and told me my levels were at 14, I remember being so upset that I had to clock out of work and crawl into bed. I cried the ENTIRE day. I was so sure that this was going to end the way it did for me last year. I went the following day to get more bloodwork and my levels jumped to 53. They had me come back a week later at that point and my levels were at 665. Two days later, they were just at or a little over 1500. I am now almost 29 weeks pregnant.
