I’m 5′ 2″ and got up to 145 which was really big for me and I hated it. Honestly – I haven’t ready thought anyone elses so I’m sorry if this is a repeat….but you gotta cut out sugar & I don’t mean replace it with sugar substitue products. Just eat natural sugar when do you have it – healthy fruit pops and fruit.

I would go on a paleo diet or a clean eating diet. Clean eating is a little easier! I would also start a exercise program that keeps you in-line/accountable. If you can afford a personal trainer once a week or a group class where you see the same people each week it will motivate you to go on the other days. I reccomend, if you can do videos, to purchase ripped in 30 (jillian michaels) or the body revolution DVDs. I’ve seen some great success stories there when you follow the meal plans too. I lost a lot of weight doing Turbo Fire and going on a low sugar diet.

I now weigh 115lbs give or take a few lbs on days I eat salty bloaty food.

Other foods to limit in-take on:

Juce/Soda — WATER ONLY! I’m now obsessed with Hint Water and Seltzer with no added sweetners.

Dairy Products — these make you bloat

Processed Foods — no sugar free, low fat crap..

NO TAKE OUT, FAST FOOD, etc… — going out to eat is a no-no! You cannot guage how much of anything they put in those meals – even the “healthy ones.” Promise yourself no more than once a month or something and this will also be a $ saver for that wedding!

@Barbiestylez:  So out of curiosity I just looked at your thread about halloween costumes and you look great! Spanx will help with confidence you honestly look like you dont have much weight to lose. I will say cutting back on eating out (which has so many ingredients that will cause bloat) will defintely be helpful in the confidence factor! I know that even at my skinniest if I am bloated everyone better stay out of my way – I get rather down on myself and grumpy.

Don’t buy things that are sweet!

I wasn’t trying to lose weight, just be healthier, but I stopped buying cold cereals because almost all have sugar in them and I was addicted (a bowl at night, and one or two before bed). Just don’t buy the supplies for desserts! And wean yourself off. I struggle with sugar constantly. Now if I want sweets, I make a fruit smoothie (I’m pretty bad at eating fruit raw usually). I also really enjoy my cereal now. I make hot cereal (Red River, or some other plain stuff), add a banana, cinnamon (makes it SEEM sweeter than it is) and some hemp hearts/flax seeds/chia seeds to fill me up. THE BEST.

Also, I’m addicted to fun classes at the gym. Sometimes they suck when I’m there, but I go with my fiance and at the end we both feel AWESOME! I’ve gotten to love strength training! And sweating! And seeing my body get toned.

Fiance has just lost 5 pounds by eating less crap and going to the gym twice a weekend, plus kayaking twice a week. And he’s actually enjoying himself, which I thought would never happen.

It’s definitely hard to eat right when your pantry sabotoges you. Don’t shop when you’re hungry and make a list!

ETA:

It’s IMPOSSIBLE to control what you eat when you go out all the time; I know it well. The portions are way too big, you feel like you should eat everything, stuff is fattier to make it taste better, and dessert is easy to get at because you didn’t have to make it yourself, and it doesn’t feel as bad for you as a chocolate bar or whatever.

Make going out special! Sounds like you need to rediscover the joy of cooking! 😉

The one thing that keeps me accountable is myfitnesspal! Just gives you a better idea of what you’re consuming – like a food diary.

My cheat for sweets is splitting a skinny cow ice cream sandwhich with my Boyfriend or Best Friend.

@Barbiestylez:  Losing weight is hard because bad foods are so good!  I try to cook with as many fresh veggies and possible and I usually cook with chicken.  Just try to indulge sparingly–you can still eat out, drink alcohol, eat candy, etc, but try to do it as a special treat only once in a while.

I crave dessert every night too. So now I have a weetbix (wheat biscuit) with honey. Or I force myself to clean my teeth which signals to my brain that eating is over.

@Barbiestylez:  I crave chocolate a lot, but I’ve managed to cut out a lot of sugar from my diet.  When I do want something sweet, I get those vanilla yogurt cups that come with M&Ms to mix in.  They are so good, and there’s just enough to mix in to calm a sweet tooth.  I wouldn’t eat them like every day, but a couple times a week isn’t that bad!

I would also recommend doing a 5 meal diet.  I eat a small breakfast in the morning (like a wheat bagel w/light cream cheese), have a light snack mid-morning (I usually grab a granola bar or yogurt), a healthy lunch, a mid-afternoon snack, and then a healthy dinner.  Eating this way helps boost your metabolism and you can lose weight faster if you make healthy eating choices.

By The Way, I lost 10lbs in 4 weeks by cutting out sodas, following this diet, and doing an hour of cardio 3-4 times a week.
