Hello lovelies (: This is my first post and probably not my last. Wedding planning is insane!
So here’s the deal. I fell in love with my wedding venue the moment I found it. Just look at some of the wedings they have hosted: http://www.themohicans.net/real-weddings.html
My fiance and I are big into nature and hiking and all of that, so it felt like the perfect place for our wedding. The problem is the location … The venue is nestled between Columbus and Cleveland, and I’m finding it difficult to convince vendors in either city to make the drive. I’ve tried looking in other neighboring cities as well, but the smaller ones don’t have great looking options.
So far I have been able to get a caterer and a DJ to get on board, and I’m chasing a promising officiant. My next goal is to get the cake taken care of, but the bakers are really not biting on this one.
Any other Ohio brides out there that used this venue? Who did you find to take care of the cake? Or does anyone have any other advice that will help me not lose my mind? I can’t say that I regret booking this venue because it is perfect, and I’m determined to make this work. Help!

I’m an Ohio bride, but we’re getting married in Cincinnati. Have you asked your venue? They might have a list of preferred vendors who are used to working there.

Have you asked the venue who the previous weddings have used? And By The Way Mohican is beautiful! What about some of the Amish places nearby?

There’s no way a place in Canton won’t go there!

I am an Ohio bride also. Closer to Akron though. Try looking in Mansfield or I don’t see why some place in Canton wouldn’t deliver for a small fee? I am using a woman who does cakes out of her house in South Akron area She might deliver for a fee? She is pretty inexpensive to begin with so that might be an option?

the one they recommended looks like they can’t do it. they said no one will be there to deliver that day but I’m going to see if I can pay a little extra to change their minds. doubt it will work, but their menu looks awesome and they came recommended by the venue. we’ll see.
I will definitely look around in Mansfield! I actually have a friend who lives in that area who might be able to point me in the right direction.
and I’ll try Canton, too. Thanks!!

If you can’t find one on your own, go back to the venue and tell them the bakery they recommended can’t do that day and ask if they have others who have delivered there in the past (they might be contractually obligated to only have ONE that they recommend, but if you ask who else has delivered there in the past, you can get around that).

try Stacy Spillane. She did our cake and cupcakes for our wedding. She charges a delivery fee, but her price is fair and her work is wonderful. We loved every morsel of cake and that’s coming from someone who does not have a sweet tooth. she has a facebook page for her business, but if you need her contact informatoon, just message me. Good luck!
