Here’s my deal:
I have my venue for 7 hours (25 bucks and hour afterwards) but I get to pick what time to unlock and what time to close up…. I am free to pick the ceremony start time – I only have to make sure we have time to set up, have the ceremony and reception and then close up shop and clean up before 11pm…….. any ideas?
So if we setup from 4-5 (I have TONS of people to help), ceremony at 5:30 (lasting approx 45 minutes) Reception starting at 6:30-10pm with an hour to clean up…. only gives us 3.5 hours for reception! ARGH!!!!!!!

Two things: a) it might be worth it to pay the extra 25/hr for just AN hour. b) Can you make your ceremony 30 minutes instead of 45?
10-11pm for clean up (6 hours left)
10-4:30 for reception/cocktail hour (1.5 hours left)
4:30-4:00 for ceremony (1 hour left)
4:00-3:00 set up (0 hours left)

Idk, this seems like a really tight timeframe to me. How large is your wedding? If it were me, $25-50 would be a steal for additional time. Our venue is charging $150/hour!

@bebefly: I have gone over it a million times in my head and on paper…. making the ceremony only 30 minutes is “do-able” in a perfect world with a perfect bridal party…. I have a large party, and we are doing seating of the mothers/grandmother, we have 7 on each side, the ringbearer and a young flower girl who might not make it all the way up the isle. but each of these individuals are important to us and the ceremony. I just dont know that we can get everyone down the isle and have the ceremony in only 30 minutes. ;/ — frustrating im telling you!
The ONE good thing is that the ceremony and reception are at the same venue…. it is only steps to the other side of the gardens for the reception. We are not calling it a cocktail hour either – it just doesnt have a name. Too many big drinkers on both sides of the family and alcohol will be limited already as cash bar is not allowed at the venue and I refuse to pay for open bar. (not being cheap, just trying to be responsible)………..
I just might have to pay for an extra hour or two… or ask if we can go early morning and setup…. that would give us an extra hour…. ooooohhhhh I am SO calling them in the morning!
