Hi Bees – So we have narrowed down baby girl names to our two fav. But I have been utterly stuck between these two for months. Stella has always been our favorite, but we recently came across Louisa which I originally was drawn to because I loved the option of “Lou” for a nickname.
My husband is already using Louisa (even though he says its my choice) so I’m worried I wont be able to wait for too much longer before I need to select. He’s likely already attached lol. Everyone we talk to says they love Stella, most dont care for Louisa. Since my husband is Mexican, most ppl assume we are saying “Luisa” and say it sounds like Luis-a. I am drawn towards Louisa for some reason, but still lean towards Stella. Unsure if I’m holding on to Stella because it was my favorite for so long or because I know its so overwhelmingly liked by everyone. Likewise, I’m unsure if I’m drawn to Louisa because my husband seems to favor it.
This is our first child and I’m def feeling the weight of importance on choosing her name!
Thanks for your help! -Leia

I prefer Stella, but I also do like Louisa. Sorry that’s not really much help!

How much more time do you have? As corny as it sounds I found when my children were born they helped us decide what their names should be.

They’re both good. I think Louisa is the prettier of the too, with more options for nicknames.

This is all I can think of when I hear “Stella.”

I like them both, but Stella seems a little more overly trendy hipstery to me, so I vote Louisa. Really you can’t go wrong though, they’re both beautiful names. lol maybe that doesn’t help much.

I love, love, love the name Louisa. And I kinda hate Stella. If naming my future kids were 100% up to me (no input from my husband) I would absolutely have a Louisa. Sadly, my husband is not a fan.

They are both lovely names and I think your future daughter would be happy with either! If your husband loves Louisa, maybe let him have his first choice, since it seems you don’t favor one over the other.
Stella and Louisa would be great names for sisters too, so you could save the name you don’t pick for potential daughter #2 🙂
