Louisa is strong and classic, while also being feminine and a bit sweet.

The word that comes to mind for Stella, on the other hand, is brash.

I feel like Stella is soooo overdone now, I much prefer Lou!

A lot of people say that when their child was born it helped name them, like maybe you’ll see her and just go ‘oh she’s a Stella!’ or ‘definitely Louisa!’

Lulu is a super cute nickname for a kdi though…

Louisa is a bit more dignified in my opinion. Also, it’s MUCH less common these days. I definitely prefer it.

Plus you can call her Lola… or Lolly which are both just freaking adorable as nicknames.

A friend named her daughter Marjorie, and I called her Mojo. It really suited her, too.

This is going to sound really weird, but try shouting each name and then try shouting full name, first middle and last. At some point you’re going to shout your kids name. It was one of the weird things I used. Also will the initials mean anything. I would personally avoid lou, simply because kids are mean and there’s lot of ways to twist that one.

I like them both, but Stella is very trendy right now and for that reason I would pick Louisa.

I like Stella! It’s so cute. I have a childhood friend named Louisa, growing up people called her Louie!

I really like them both. Louisa is very pretty and classic, but Louisa/Louise is still a very common middle name and was really popular as a first in the 80s/90s. I know millions of Louise/Louisa/Luisa. But that’s what makes it a classic!

Stella is quite trendy, but still very cute. I don’t think it’s over done yet, but maybe it’s just not that common in my circles.

lwiegand47 :  I love Stella…not a huge fan of Louisa but it’s not my child. What about a combination of both – Louella?

I like Louisa a lot. I would personally pick Stella because it’s more international and easier to pronounce correctly by people from differnt countries. For me that is an important factor due to being in a a bicultural relationship. But both names are reall pretty!
