I was hoping for some opinions. I am really struggling with my reception theme. I was leaning towards navy blue and either cream or white for my main colours and then accents of either bright orange or bright green.
I want antique looking white birdcages as my centre pieces – one filled with cream flowers and a hint of the accent colour I choose, and the other with tall, 3 different sized pillar candles – so two cages per table. I was thinking one would be a smaller version.
BUT… I just saw an idea my fiancé and I love, and we want to do those big colourful swirly lollipops instead of flower bouquets. I know it sounds weird but we both love lollies and I think I could make it look really cool with different size lollipops and also prob some of the long skinny ones.
My dilemma is I don’t feel like it would work very well with my birdcage centre pieces and I don’t know what else to do. I don’t know if I incorporated the lollipops into the centre pieces too it would make it too ‘candy land’ and too childish. I always pictured a vintage type wedding – my colour was always going to be a champagne/tan/beigey sort of colour to fit with the vintage theme but my best friend got engaged before me and that’s the colour she has chosen. (we are very alike so not really a surprise) and I want to steer clear of anything even remotely similar to hers, we have lots of the same friends and I don’t want them comparing.
So I don’t know if I can do the lollipop bouquets on their own and stick with my original plan for the rest of the theme, or scrap the lollipops coz they’d look out of place. I don’t know if I’d look back in 10 years time and be like ‘what I was thinking… lollipops?!’
Sorry this comes across as a ramble and turned out so long but I have just been going back and forth in my mind and I’m getting nowhere! I had no idea it would be so hard to choose colours! Neither of us have a favourite colour so it’s proving quite difficult!
I would love to hear more about colour schemes other bees have chosen too!
Thanks for reading!!
