Ok Bees I have a probelm! A good friend of mine offered months ago to make our cupcakes for our wedding. We have had 2 trial runs of them and I’m still not 100% happy with them.
The first trial there was a weird taste on them, we weren’t sure where the taste was coming from could have been the foil liners she used who knows. So I let her know our concerns and said she would remake them.
The second trial the cake was all dry……and heavy.
Should we give her another shot, or go with another option like pro baked?? If we go pro baked how would we break it to her I don’t want to hurt her feelings……. PLEASE HELP US!!!

Because she is your friend I would give her one more shot, and this time be very spacifec about what you want so hopefully she can get it right and you wont have to hurt her feeling by choosing somone else.

Good luck- my aunt is making my cake, but I’ve had her wedding cake before and wouldn’t have accepted if I hadn’t liked her work.

Are there any sweets you’ve had of hers that were really good? Like a specialty? Then maybe you can get pro cupcakes and ask her if she wouldn’t mind making her famous *blank* instead since you just realized not everyone likes cake? I think showing apreciation for something you know she does really well and asking for her help on that front will soften the whole we’re not using your cupcakes thing. Good luck 🙂
ETA: You could give her one more shot too if you like, and/or maybe get together with her to try maybe 2 recipes and 2 boxed mixes and have a blinid taste test with her. In my experience, unless you’re super pro at baking, the mixes come out better and are much more consistent, save time, and let you focus on the artsy decorating part, which is the personalized part people will notice, nobody will know you had help from Betty Crocker.
