Has anyone in the Boston area used Studio Blue Photography in the past year? I’m really impressed with their customer service and the pictures online. But I’m VERY concerned about not knowing who I’ll end up with as a photographer. And some of the reviews I’m reading say it may not be the way to go. Can anyone help?

Hi there! I didn’t use Studio Blue, but have a friend who used them for her July wedding last year. She loved how the pictures came out, and was very pleased with her photographer… HOWEVER. She said that as of late, she STILL hasn’t gotten her album and that Studio Blue had recently been having a lot of turnover and she’s getting royally F*cked over by them. I’d stay away!
I used Little Fang Photography for my wedding last September in Nahant MA, http://www.littlefangphoto.com – Lindsey and Adam were great. You can check out the pics they took of us under the “wedding” section of their website “Janine & Aaron”
Good luck! And PS – I grew up down the street from where your wedding is! Are you getting married at the Country Club? Also, you’re getting married on my birthday!

I wouldn’t use any company that sends spam.

I would never use a studio. Spend your money to work with a photographer you know the work of, and have a personal relationship with.

@crayfish: There are high end successful and $$$$ studio’s….Milton Gil comes to mind. I agree with you, but for some reason a lot of people are willing to go that route.

I agree with crayfish, when my friend told me that she wouldn’t know what photographer she would have until the day of her wedding or really close to the wedding, I got stressed out FOR her! I mean, she ended up really liking the guy that they got, but if they’re having issues even getting their album, does it even matter that they liked the guy? The poor thing.
@MissTattoo – I agree – I got so many junk emails from StudioBlue when I first started signing up for wedding websites. It just got annoying! I ended up blocking them.

@7SEVENJ9: I don’t mind the spam if it would go away AFTER I unsubscribe. I know most of it comes from the bridal shows but damn! Leave me alone after I request for the emails to stop!
Studio Blue are the top ones who won’t leave me alone.

Studio Blue is actually owned by Bella Pictures. Actually it’s Bella’s lower-end, customer service, less removed little sister. There online portfolio is made up from best of thousands of weddings shot by hundreds of photographers. They usually contract out newbies or photogs who don’t have what it takes to run a photog biz on their own. Look up reviews for Bella to see what you are getting into before you sign anything. If photos are important with you, you should work with a photog or studio where you know their work and can build a relationship before the wedding.
@crayfish I run a studio and am an honest business person who definitely stresses the importance of my relationships with my clients.

I am in Boston. Check out Zev Fisher. You deal directly with him and he is amazing. He’s my photographer, I used him for my engagement photos and loved them. He’s real cool and voted Best of Boston. I wouldn’t use an agency, you never know what you’ll get.

I used them and I was sorry. My photos were mediocre at best. Hundreds had focus, composition and exposure problems. Great guy, bad photos.
