So, I wasn’t planning on assigning a theme to our wedding…I figured things would all come together. Though, I tend to like to plan, and I think my unconscious decided a theme for me–“autumn.” Yes, creative I know. : -) But the wedding is happening in fall, the invite we like the most is fall, and the cakes we seem to be drawn to are fall-like. (This is all for Fall of 2011 by the way, so way in advance planning)
Since I just came to this realization about 20 minutes ago, I haven’t fully thought about what to include, and I’m sure I will, but everyone on this board seems to be very creative and clever, so I’d love any suggestions! 🙂

I’ve also seen some “autumn” weddings where they didn’t use the traditional maroon, brown, and orange theme but used slate grey and orange/yellows, which I thought was a sophisticated twist on things.

Here’s a Red/Wheat Harvest Wedding Inspiration Board I’ve thrown together for another bride with some fun ideas.
…and here’s and Autumn Leaf-themed one I’ve made too!

Thank you! Those boards are great! For some reason, the thought of making a board seems so overwhelming. But those two are awesome. I may have to steal some ideas 🙂

I would decide on a level of formality to cement your theme, like rustic or chique. you could do pumpkin orange and grey and make it all crisp and chique, and get your girls scarves and serve cider- or you could do like a rustic autumn with leaves and wood and more nature. My friend did an apple orchard theme to her country club wedding and it came off very crisp and chique with orange flowers and green apples on the table and most things black and white. She also scheduled her venue with a view of fall leaves so it really added color without feeling forced!
