Maine has non-tropical beaches and lots of woods.  You would have to go during the summer.

Costa Rica has both beaches and rainforests, but it’s not too close to OH.  I think Puerto Rico does too, though I haven’t been there.  Belize has beaches and also Mayan ruins in the jungle.

Oh, and of course you could go to California.  Beaches + Yosemite.  Done.  But not sure if that is too far for you.

It depends on how far you’d want to travel. You can go to the Adirondack’s. It would be pretty in the fall, though might be getting to the end of peak when you come up. The 1000 Islands are great. They are much cheaper after labor day, but really small shops close after labor day. It’s on the water, but not quite beach-y, but more of a relaxing/outdoorsy place.

I don’t know much about places to the west of OH.

Could you go Glamping somewhere? That would be awesome. Luxury in the woods!

We are renting a log cabin (3 bdrm-very nice) in the Shenandoah Valley for our honeymoon!! It’s prime season up there in October so everything will be in full swing (wineries, festivals, hiking, caverns, etc)

Hocking Hills! You can rent a lovely little cabin and be surrounded by BEAUTIFUL landscape. (and it’s only a couple of hours from Columbus)
