That sucks. πŸ™ While not as aggrivating as your car, my car decided that it’s tire pressure is too low this morning (though I checked them and their in the acceptable range) so I was a little late to work making sure it was safe to drive. I’ll have to dig out some quarters and go to the gas station tonight. It “yelled” at me the whole way to work with a big, red “Your tire pressure is too low!”

@BoiledPNut: where do you live? did they tell you why your engine light came on? I assume you went somewhere to have it checked…

Bummer about the car + no money. πŸ™

On a side-note, I thought your title said “Stupid Carl” and I thought it was kinda funny, even though I had no idea who Carl is.

@BoiledPNut: what kind of car? My husband is one, a fabulous one I might add (seriously, his dad is one of the most skilled mechanics in the country, and he learned from him)

@BoiledPNut: stupid car here too! My car just died.. I got a message that said “check charging system” and when I tried to start it I got nothing.. My brother thinks it’s the alternator because I just replaced my battery. All I hear is $$$ I don’t have!

Oooh, take it to Autozone instead of a mechanic! They have a machine they can plug it into and they can see what the issue is. They’re not really getting as much out of fleecing you as a mechanic, so I feel they won’t over-exaggerate the problem the way others might, too. Anyway, they’ll do it for free, too.

My dad has one of them at home, and it turns out my check engine light came on because I was low on oil, even though it came on after i refilled it.

OH wow… I just relized I used the wrong “they’re” in my other post. πŸ™ Fail.

@cherrydoll: I just got rid of my old car in March… I though it was the battery, replaced it. Thought it was the alternator. Found out it wasn’t. It ended up being a battery cable and apparently those bad boys are expensive! Hopefully it is the alternator, they’re much cheaper.

@BoiledPNut: Seriously! I had been used to having a compressor and now that I don’t I have to actually buy air.

Sorry to hear that!  There has been a thorn in my side all week!  We had no water for 2 days and now that that’s fixed, the storm came through and the power’s out!  Sheesh.

OH HO HO! My AC started making a funny noise last week when we ran it, so we took it to the Honda dealership and they told us the ENTIRE AC SYSTEM needs to be replaced at a cost of… $5,000. Join in an LOL with me. Who would put that much money into an AC system?? We are going to take it to another dealership to get a second opinion because the guy at this one said “it definitely happened in the last year after someone replaced the compressor” which has definitely not been done in the 2 years we’ve owned my car. Seriously it’s a Honda with only 150,000 miles on it, that’s NOTHING for a Honda. I am disappointed. I thought Hondas were so reliable. If it really does need an entire AC replacement we’re just going to buy a new car and not waste our time with 5k in repairs.

Basically, I feel you, and car repairs suck no matter what.
