How about we make a list of wedding things that are just plain stupid expensive…
I’ll go first:
I’m trying to get a quote for transportation from the reception to our hotel. They are literally 2.9 miles apart from one another. I have to use a list of preferred vendors provided by the venue and I think it’s silly to take a limo for the two of us to drive only 2.9 miles, so I looked at the cost of a smaller vehicle and it’s $230/hour with a 3 hour minimum. That equates to $690 (not including tip) for 2.9 miles!!!
(Thank you for letting me vent!!)

Can you take a taxi or rent a luxury car for the day and drive yourselves? (if you are not going to be inebriated).

Why do you have to use one of their preferred vendors? The car doesn’t go into the buildingPreferred vendor doesn’t mean mandatory vendor unless clearly stated in your agreement with the venue.
Have you tried talking to the venue about using someone else?

VEILS. They’re just a comb stuck to a piece of tulle with crap sewn to it! And sometimes not even that!

Makeup. Is. Outrageous. Some are charging $200 plus and the morning after you have nothing left of your investment! It’s not even that serious what with photoshop’s skin smoothing capabilities…I’m going to MAC to get mine done, at least my $50 buys me some cosmetics I can use for a while!

Yes, this. I was thinking of going to ulta and then buying what they put on me in case I need to reapply.

I’ll be paying about $108 for hair and make up which I feel is a bit much. Then again, given my hair and make up skills….I’m willing to pay someone else to do it!

I hear you! I ended up spending money on really good makeup I could keep, and it was STILL less than what they would’ve charged.
For me, it was chairs. I got a great deal, but still, $500+ for chiavari chairs for 90 people… is a lot.

When I heard that all I had to do to book an appointment for makeup was spend $50 on product I was nearly sold…then I went during the week and the MU artist gave me a trial of a look I was interested in and that was it…OMG it was amazing I actually looked fabulous!

And postage! It’s not that much but it sneaks up on you! And tipping! I don’t mind tipping but I have to be careful to remember to add it in when I’m budgeting!
