Veils and cake cutting fees as other PPs have mentioned are the worst offenders so far!

Setup/dismantling florist fees. 1K to dismantle 12 centerpieces and a chuppah? I can hire a college kid for $50 – how hard can it be to clean up flowers?
cake cutting fees, or charges to open wine bottles (even if they are yours)
Room rental prices on top of minimums… I am already paying $125+ per person and a heafty overall minimum… Why do I have to give you $2k to rent a room that we are already essentially paying for…
Dance floor set up fees too- I wanted to kill this one venue when they told us they’d charge to set up a dance floor…
I wanted to veto the cookies too, just ’cause I wasn’t very interested in having them, but Fiance almost had a nervous breakdown, haha. In Western PA, there is always a cookie table at weddings. End of story, apparently!
I agree about transportation, too. Our venues are less than 5 miles from each other, I am not renting a $400 limo for that. I was thinking of just renting a roomy SUV to transport me and my girls from the hotel to the ceremony venue and then the entire bridal party to the reception venue. Cheaper and we can use it all day instead of just a few hours.
SHOES! I went with affordable $40 heels from DSW, but some brides spend HUNDREDS on designer shoes that you basically won’t ever see under the dress! Boggles my mind
We wanted to use vintage plates that we had collected (to avoid expensive plate rental fees). That is, until our caterer informed us that they would charge $2.99 PER GUEST to bus and scrape those plates.
Uh. I think i should have made a lot more money after Thanksgiving dinner, then…
Tipping. If a vendor goes above and beyond and provides excellent service, then I’ll tip. But I do not feel obligated to shell out extra money. I don’t know who started this, but I think it’s outrageous. Tipping is a bonus, not expected.
limos…ugh
linen rentals also got me, but I wound up finding a great mom and pop that is doing it for over $200 less than everyone else in the area!
