I put mostly items that I really will go buy if I don’t get and then some of the nice to have. I wish you could put your registry in order of what you want most.

Oh my goodness, I had to keep reminding myself when we registered that just becasue we registered for it, doesn’t mean we’ll get it.
I’m sure I’ll wind up buying most of what we don’t get for the wedding. We’re asking for registry gifts for Christmas too. 🙂

We registered for thing we wanted or upgrades to things we already had and we figure if we get stuff we, in the end, realize we really don’t need we get to go and exchange it for fun stuff we kinda want. Free stuff can never hurt! I am really trying to subtly push the idea of money though. I keep telling people to help us pay for our honeymoon if they don’t know what we want. I would rather have an amazing wedding and honemoon and NOT come back in debt than have a bunch of cool stuff and owe a ton.

@kfricke80 REgister at honeyfund.com we did and it was a hit!! People felt like they were buying us something even though they were just giving us cash 🙂

My Fiance was married previously, and she left everything there.  Therefore, we have little need for anything.  Whenever I look at our registry I can only find decor and pretty stuff that I (want) and don’t need.  My Mom looked at my registry and laughed!  She told me to put stuff on it that people would actually buy…. *humph*  Why register for dishes when I already have dishes?  Why register for towels when we have oodles of towels?  *Sigh*

@KaitlinHudson: So you’re telling us your biggest problem is people WANT to buy you stuff? lol. I know your stressed but go to Macy’s, pick up the registry scanner, and have some fun. Click on affordable small items that his students would get him and feel excited about buying their teach a wedding present! They’ll be so proud of themselves!! Or upgrade stuff you already have. A coffeemaker, pots, mixing bowls, etc. Then donate your old stuff to goodwill and get a sweet tax write-off.

Another option is go to MyRegistry.com and create a registry full of items YOU want. It could be anything. Or you could make a cash gift fund for your honeymoon or whatever.

Enjoy!
