When we were doing centerpiece trials, we tried a submerged look.

Personally we used cymbidium orchids.  they were five bucks a flower or twenty something for the stem.  I used three vases that were at different heights from kitchen stuff plus.

since your looking for cylinder, have you considered Dollarama?  we bought some cylinder ones that were maybe 11″ high.

@tranquility:  How wide and high of a cylinder are you looking for??  let me know and i’ll see what i can find for you.  i was at dollarama recently and did see a very wide round one, maybe 8 or 9 inches high.

you might also consider Tuzy Muzy (its in mississauga), kitchen stuff plus, ikea, maybe the local floral shop at loblaws or some supermarket.

this is the trio i did when we tried it:

I bought mine here http://www.dfwvases.com/Products-Cylinder_Glass_Vases.html

I don’t remember what I paid for shipping (I’m in Ontario too) but it was worth it because I got tired of looking around for enough of the same sized vases. I thought the prices were decent though. And I used orchids as well.
