@GwenvonD:Yaaa πŸ˜€ Well, depending on the cut and clarity of the diamond determines the price. You can spend anywhere from a couple hundred to upwards of $3,000 JUST for the diamond. I’m guessing you should anticipate around a 4-6 week wait.

google search “buy loose diamonds” and you’ll come across numerous sites with search engines that let you select for the 4 c’s and gives you a range of prices.  I’d also look on ebay to get an idea… it’s quick and easy> πŸ™‚  My search results came up with prices ranging from $700 to $3000, so JamieinMN is rignt on there.

@GwenvonD: YAY! Mine was too simple- just a solitaire so it was really only the diamond he was shopping for. I remember trying on the cheaper ones (bigger too) and was happy….until they showed me their best diamonds and I was def. willing to go smaller for sparklier and better quality! πŸ™‚ Excited for you!!! (and no, not from Canada…but woohoo)

I can’t wait to see this dreamboat! I’m glad you’ve chosen and I’m sure it’s going to be happening soon. Eeee!

@chittychittybanebane:

We went for smaller and sparklier too. Tried on 1 ct, half ct, different shapes, etc… but nothing was as beautiful as the smaller diamond πŸ™‚

@GwenvonD: Depending on your financial situation, you could get a different center for now! That’s what we’re doing: my ring has a white sapphire in it right now (Or it will by 5pm tonight..!!!) and we’ll trade it out for a diamond later, when we have more money for it. That way we could afford a nice setting that will last. πŸ™‚  Just a thought! Although you say it has to be built around that.. what do you mean?

Anyway, I’m SO excited to see your ring!

I’d compare against bluenile.  Make sure the stats are all the same, though. If you’re paying more than 10% above bluenile prices, it’d probably be worth it to just buy the center stone from there and get it set.

I can’t WAIT to see your ring!!!!

Hopefully it doesn’t take too long!  I can’t imagine that it will.  Adjusting the proportions to fit your center stone shouldn’t take too long, and getting the center stone into the setting is an extremely quick fix!
