I lost 7 pounds in a month while doing the shred, but I didn’t have the best eating habits. I still slipped and indulged in sweets sometimes.

I did her Ripped in 30, and by week 3 I was so bored of the routines that I quit. BUT her videos kicked my butt, and whipped me into shape. From those three weeks, plus another 2-3 of my own I lost about 9, my belly got flatter (three days a week of AB Ripper X) and I felt stronger. Granted, I eat sweets about every day so I could have done better. The important part is to push yourself, if you have to take a break.. dont take a break and let the video keep going, take a break and pause the video for no more then 1-2minutes (MAX) and then start back where you left off. Myfitnesspal also has a lot of supportive people, and tons of posts on this video and people with progress photos, etc. Good luck!

Hi!  I’ve been a huge fan of the 30DS!  Since Labour Day, I’ve lost 15 lbs using the 30DS along with interval running.

I do three days of exercise, then take a day off.  I alternate between the 30DS and running, while using the Daily Plate Livestrong app.  I also use resistance bands occassionally.

I’m 5’6”, was 163 and am now 148. It’s been tough but I feel really great about how hard I’ve worked!  Just make sure you make good eating decisions.  I always hear that weight loss is mostly based on diet, and I think it’s true (my Fiance lost 22lbs by just bringing sandwiches to work for lunch instead of eating out!) The exercise will help you lose inches.

Good luck to you!  10-12 lbs should be doable for sure.

I’m loving the results people have gotten!  I did it two days ago and my calves were too sore to do it this morning, but I can’t wait to get back into it!!

I cut out all caffeine, but still ate badly.  I did the shred 5 days a week for two months and lost 8 pounds.  But, I do think it was in due to stress and not because of the shred.

I had done the shred prior to my engagement and while I felt fantastic and a lot more tone and fit, I didn’t lose weight mainly because I was building muscle.

I counted calories but didn’t necessarily eat GOOD calories and did the shred all the way through…didn’t lose weight but gained some muscle under my belly fat lol. I did feel like it made me feel strong enough to try harder programs though…

@Saloria83:  I generally do the running outside on a path, but if it’s really gross or dark out I’ll just stay in and do the 30DS 🙂

When I started my weigh loss ‘journey’, I started jogging about 30 mins each morning, at a steady pace.  That was fine, but when I learned about intervals, my life changed, lol 🙂  You can cut your exercise time, have more energy and burn more calories even after you’ve finished working out. This leads to faster weight loss, faster results, and I also stay motivated because I’m not slogging along doing a dull, looooong workout.

When I started interval training, I sprinted for 20 seconds as fast as I could (so I was just dying by the end of it), and then walked for 1 min 15 secs.  Then repeated the sprinting/walking rotation for a total of 10 sprints. So from that my workout time was cut in half! And I’ve read that the HIIT methods make your body burn calories for much longer than regular workouts (i.e. boosts your metabolism).

Since I don’t want my body to ‘adjust’ to the workout, I’ve now alternated the sprinting times to rotate between 20 and 30 seconds, with 1 min 30 secs in between.  My next move will be to reduce the walking time to 1 min.

You can do it on the treadmill too (you can program the machine to adjust the alternating speeds).

One tool that really helped me when it came to intervals was the iPhone app called iSmoothRun.  You can program your intervals so that a voice comes through your headphones and tells you when to run and when to walk, etc.  And it also measures calorie burn, distance, time, etc.  It’s pretty fun to look back over your log and see how much you’ve improved!

I’ve used it in the past but then got really lazy and stopped. I really did love it, it kicked my butt and 20 minutes later I was done for the night. That was the best feeling of all. I did see a difference in my body when I was doing. I actually did lose weight, but I know it wasn’t necessarily from the video because I had stopped and continued losing weight. I have actually been contemplating motivating myself to do it again starting Sunday or Monday since I’ve let my healthy eating habits slip a little.

@MsGolightly:  Yes! Intervals changed my life too haha.

OP: I am doing 30DS right now too and I love it. In the past I always lost abdominal fat and felt so much more fit and confident, and its working again this time. However, I only do it 3 days/week and alternate it with a HIIT cardio workout. I also do a ton of ab work on the side because I don’t think 3 minutes of abs will do a ton for you. I like Ab Ripper X as a PP said, pilates, yoga or just some hardcore planks too. 🙂

Good luck, I think your plan sounds healthy and great!

I really like 30 day shred, but if you want those results you need to pair it with a healthy diet. I don’t think you need to do anything extreme, but cut out processed foods, drink water instead of soda, and eat breakfast everyday.

AND-

Take your measurements. You amy lose more fat than the scale shows, so you shouldn’t be disappointed if the scale doesn’t show the number you want.
