That’s great news for your grandma!

The best part of my day was that I got to work by myself. I work at a daycare in the afternoons and the full-time assistant spot is open. We keep having subs and testing new people, which means I’m doing the bulk of the work. The kids are “mobile infants”/toddlers, and it’s just not an age group that a lot of people like, but I really love it. Well, today (and this NEVER happens) half of them were out or got picked up early and we dropped down to ratio an hour into my shift. So I got to spend the afternoon playing ball and reading books with 5 babies.

I had to do all the feeding and diaper changes and cleaning, but it was actually the most relaxing work day I think I’ve ever had.

@alyssaC:  We always meet the legal ratio requirements (1:5 for my age group) or we’d get in trouble with the state. Dropping down to ratio just means that we got low enough that we only needed one teacher instead of two. It would be awesome if it happened again soon, but it only happens maybe once every 3-4 months.

3-5 kids is waaaay less stressful than 1-2. Don’t ask me why that is, though, because I haven’t figured it out yet. My favorite part of the day is usually when I get down to 3. Babysitting is definitely harder than working at a daycare! Probably because, at the daycare, you’re confined to one, very child-friendly room instead of trailing a small child around a whole house.
