(Closed) Sudden Belly Fat….wtf?

Any stress/anxiety issues going on?

When Im stress, my cortisol shoots up which = belly fat. its like a constant food baby! UGGG. Ive been just trying to focus on getting more sleep and doing relaxing things.

YUP, that totally happened to me around 29/30 and it was just my stupid metabolism slowing down, and apparently, as you get older, you get more prone to belly fat, so that’s… you know, GREAT. But, I started doing pilates (the denise austin 6-part series available on iTunes first, which are really good, and then an actual pilates-machine class at my gym) and it went away after a few weeks to a month. I also started doing 100 situps about three times a week (50 normal, and 25 to each side) – not sure if that did much, but since I started out with NO ab strength to speak of, I figured it couldn’t hurt! I’ve been so pissed about it that I even went of birth control pills to see if it was the culprit. not really-its been six months with no real change. perhaps a bacterial infection like candida in the gut?

Everyone will want to tell you its impossible to spot choose weight loss. Cutting out carbs helps temporarily but the second you slip up , it blows up.

Have you seen differences on the scale?

What works for me is less eating and more exercise.

Getting older kind of blows, doesn’t it? lol  Wait till you’re in your 40s-I thought 30 was bad.  I have to do yoga 5 times a week and eat very small portions but I’ve kept my waist size to 28 and the muffin tops are under control but ready to pop at any moment.  Keep doing yoga and pilates.  It works!

Yeah, I went through the same thing. It was a HUGE shock for me. I just took charge and started excercising and watching what I eat. I am still not where I was when I was 21, but I am within 12lbs of that, and I’m cool with it. I was pretty skinny then so 12lbs extra is not bad. But it’s hard to think about how effortless it was then.

CanAmBride:  Did you ever figure out where the belly fat came from? Was it just getting older? Lately, I’ve gained a lot of weight and I’ve never had belly fat so it’s freaking me out. I know since the honeymoon, I haven’t been eating super well/exercising, but someone mentioned candidas, and considering my sugar addiction, I am wondering if this could be it. I’m 25 and am not very stressed.

I’m finding that over the past couple months I’ve been getting a belly too! Not pregnant and sure some more stress but this tummy this is becoming constant… weirdest thing… my weight on the scale hasn’t changed a bit! :S
