Hi ladies (and gents)! Just to personalize things a bit more, I’m contemplating making a CD of music to get us through our cocktail hour and dinner at our reception (about 3 hours). Our band doesn’t play until after dinner, and the other option is for the venue to play one of their satelitte stations (which is fine, but why not listen to music we like). I’d love to hear some song suggestions from everyone!
Since our band plays covers, and will most likely play crowd pleasing songs that cross generations, I’m thinking a mix of music would be nice, but mostly stuff that is fairly current. As for genre, anything that is mingle/eating friendly…but not country…is fair game.

Chris Rice – When did you fall
James Taylor, Elton John, Cat Stevens, The Beach Boys, Sara Barelis, matchbox 20, Gavin Degraw, John Mayer
Just some thoughts! 🙂 Good luck. I definitely agree you should choose your own music, it will make it much more personal!

I agree 100% with putting together your own play list. May I suggest Esperanza Spaulding. Her music is really pretty. I know that ITunes has most of her stuff. She is an upcoming artist who was recently on the Dave Letterman Show.
Another good artist is Michael Patrick Phelan. His website is http://www.michaelpatrickphelan.com.

I love Jack Johnson. I also like Jason Mraz, Corinne Bailey Rae, Colbie Calliat, and Ayo.
And some oldies but goodies: Michael Jackson, Journey, the Beatles – LOL.
