Hello,

Can you please post Angie’s contact information?  Has anyone gotten a custom wedding dress made by her? or know of any good and inexpensive dress makers in D.C.?

Thank you!

Hey guys,

If for some reason Angie or Estee don’t work for you. Yoshi Bridal does GREAT alterations for extremely reasonable prices. I got my Vera Wang sheath hemmed for under a $100. It was a really difficult job because there is three layers of thin chiffon with embroidery that had to be negotiated around. She did a fantastic job and was really patient. Let me know if you need her # or you can look her up. Yoshi Bridal.

I used Lien’s dressmaking and alterations.  She did a great job and even made a veil at a fraction of dress store costs. She’s in Herndon. (703) 904-9733.

I agree with pp – Lien is the best!!
She is the least expensive seamstress I got quotes from, and she will do whatever you want.

Does anyone else have any recommendations for someone who can make a custom wedding dress near DC?

I’m using Lien’s Dressmaking in Herdon as well – and I’ve had a fantastic experience with her.  She had to do the impossible for me – I had a lace bolero that came with my dress that had huge sleeves – she had to remove tons of buttons to take in the (very delicate) bolero’s sleeves and it fits perfectly now.  She added cups into my dress, did a three-point bustle, and hemmed my dress (3 layers, so 3 hems, two of which are so delicate they had to be done entirely by hand).  All of that and she charged me only $315.  It seems like a lot, but I know it took her hours and hours to do what had to be done for my dress.  Plus she has someone who she regularly works with to steam my dress – all I have to do is pick it up the day before the wedding!

I guess my question would be how early should we call to set up appointments?  My wedding is May 2nd. I’ll have my dress in February. Can I call now to set up appointments?

MissOldTownVA, I would recommend booking as early as possible.  Estee and Angie, at least, tend to get booked up months in advance.  When you call, they can tell you how soon you should actually come in for your first fitting.

if angie/estee dont work out, i SERIOUSLY recommend Maria Luz (http://www.anytimebride.com/)  in Silver Spring.  i dont think her website showcases her work that well, but trust me, she is fabulous.  she worked wonders on my silk chiffon dress from Kleinfeld’s (i didnt want to have to go back and forth to NYC for alterations, but i was concerned about finding a great seamstress since my dress was tricky to work with).  she has very good pricing and is a joy to work with, and her work is perfection.  i believe she also does custom dress work.  i know she also has great reviews on weddingwire.
