I am getting married in December and have a beautiful gown for my ceremony and reception in Alabama. We are having a second reception in Washington state to celebrate with my groom’s family the following weekend. It was a casual, informal affair, but my fmil texted me a few days ago and said she would like for me and my fi to have a first dance there with him in his dress blues and me in my wedding dress.
There is no way I can pack my wedding dress for multiple reasons. 1. I’m moving to Hawaii and not returning to Alabama so I need as much space as possible for my other belongings. 2. My mother and sisters will be preserving my gown so I would like to keep it in Alabama for them to ship to me later. 3. Its my beautiful wedding dress. I can’t pack it like its a shirt! My fmil understands and suggested I buy another simpler dress for the reception there.
Does anyone have any suggestions of a dress that would work for my second reception? One that is affordable like under $200 that can be easily carried in my check in? Oh, and one I won’t freeze in! I’m a southern girl going to the NW in December!!

Check out overstock. They have some great dresses that would work. Or check out zappos. They have free shipping both ways so you could always order a few, then return the ones that don’t work out.

I am really hoping someone will wear this one as I am in love with it and it came out after my wedding, but it would be perfect for a second reception.

@CrispyRN: Ohh, I love this! Very pretty. There is hope to not freeze! Thanks.
@Summer82: I never thought of Overstock. Thank you for the suggestion.
@tksjewelry: There was a dress similar to this at the bridal boutique where I got my dress and I wanted it so bad. When I went back, it was gone!! But I loved it too!
Thank you ladies. You all gave me good starting places.

check out bridesmaid gowns. it’s a lot easier to find bridesmaid gowns that aren’t strapless i’m finding, and most will come in white/ivory if that’s what you want.

@AlmostMrsPeterse: That one is from DB, if it is something you were to choose, then they could deliver it to the store in Washington.
