Hello all! In the midst of our own plans, I am also helping my best friend with hers. She wants to incorporate their Cuban background with a Gatsby/Old Hollywood Glamour for their theme, and we’ve hit a block in brainstorming. Any suggestions? (FYI: she does not like pinks/reds, satin; she wants to keep her colors blue/silver/navy blue or blue/silver/chocolate).

hmm I think I would chose one of those two for a decor theme- but maybe incorporate cuban cultural theme into her wedding.
we described our wedding as “gatsby flavored” and we went with blue and champagne. I think for “gatsby” you have to go chique vintage (as opposed to rustic vintage) with lots of higher end styled things. For me the elements that really helped with that for our wedding were the upgrade for the plates. We got very ornate gold plates instead of the traditional rental plates, and it really made the tables feel opulent. We also added lace to the table cloths, which we bought at Jo-Ann’s. We put it over the full rental cloths to create a more layered textured feel.
We also were lucky enough to have a building built in the 1920’s and a historic place to get married, and that was expensive, but I know it saved us a lot in decor costs.

Check out debratorres.com for ideas on groom or the wedding party traditional Cuban wedding shirts, if it’s a destination wedding or in a hot location, this might work out for you. Good Luck.
