Ugh thats a hard one.  I think I would put the outdoor location on the invite.  Then you can include a separate note with the phone number and back up plan & maybe a website where you can elaborate more on the details.

Good Luck.

I probably would only list this information on your accommodations card and your wedding website.

Here is some potential language:

In the event of inclement weather, our ceremony will be held at ABC Church, 12345 Elm Street, Anytown, ST 98765. If the weather is questionable, please call 1-800-555-0000 after 3 p.m. on October 27 for a recorded message that will confirm our location decision. Thank you!

Does that work?

@MrsHart2Bee:  I’m assuming that he doesn’t care about the actual HEIGHT of the heels, just the fact that the heels are narrow and come to a small spike at the bottom (i.e., that his objection is to any type of narrow heel, regardless of height — even “kitten” heels vs. flats, wedges, thicker-heeled platform shoes, etc.?) If that’s the case, I will be thinking of something for you to write.

Hmmm. How about:

Please noteVenue restrictions prohibit the wearing of narrow heels of any height. Chunky-heeled footwear, wedges, and flats are permitted. We regret any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your understanding.
