I currently have a 9x7mm oval aquamarine e-ring set in 10k white gold with 5 pave diamonds on either side. A wedding band would not sit flush with my current ring and I would much prefer a straight band without a huge gap.
We were looking into upgrading to a different ring, as my Fiance chose this one on a whim to propose with. But due to recent financial issues, that upgrade won’t be happening for awhile.
We have loosely been kicking around the idea of resetting my current aquamarine until we can afford the upgrade, as I’ve never been big on this setting. I’ve found a couple that I like that would hold a 9×7 stone that I was hoping you guys could give me input on, or even help with completely different suggestions and ideas for resetting. Pictures of different settings are completely welcome.
These are the two I was looking at:
1. Halo with a plain band
2. Solitaire with plain band

That halo is so pretty. I love aquamarine stones and I think the white halo contrasts so well with the blue.

Concern- I’d be afraid your stone could be damaged if your new setting was too high. A lowish Halo in a plain band would be perfect!

Another vote for that halo setting!!

I vote solitaire! Yes the halo is pretty but it is also a major trend right now. If you have to wait a while to have it set into the one of your dreams then you need to make sure you will be happy with your decision for as long as it takes for the Forever setting to happen. I’m not a fan of trends, don’t get me wrong though halos are very pretty. You can play up a solitaire so much more. Not to mention that the side profile of the solitaire is stunning!

Yes, the halo is pretty low. Here is a side view of it.

I’m not the biggest halo fan. But, aquamarines are so soft that maybe setting it in a halo would protect it a little more. I don’t know if it is possible to have it set more flush with the halo. But then again, it might look more like a spaceship than a ring.
You could also have a custom wedding band made for your current setting that might make it something you love.

that’s the reason I like the solitaire. It has such a gorgeous profile.

we were looking into custom rings, but the ring would have such a deep bend that I wouldn’t be able to wear it on its own. I would prefer a straight plain band to wear when I don’t want to wear my e-ring. I have 3 kids, so my hands get involved in a lot of messes and cleaning haha.

I vote for the halo! It’s so pretty!

That solitaire is gorgeous and sophisticated – and it looks like an engagement ring. The halo is pretty, but basic. It reads as an average right hand ring, and it doesn’t look like the halo setting will be much, if at all, more protective than the solitaire.
