Can anyone suggest some really good horror movies? I feel like my SO and I have seen them all. Hollywood, Asian (Korean, Thai, Japanese) and European…we’ve seen all the major ones. But surely there must be a few good ones we’ve missed.
Care to share? What’s the scariest movie you’ve ever seen?
Mine would be Shutter (original Thai movie), Lake Mungo (not really scary but it was so unnerving), The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Sinister.

I don’t know about scary, but have you seen the Korean movie the Host?

I loved Cabin in the Woods. It’s not really a horror movie, more a horror comedy, but it isn’t stupid like the Scary Movie series. It’s funny in a smart way…but what else could you expect from Joss Whedon??

The Sining. A classic and still the scariest movie I have ever seen!

High Tension is a pretty good one if you haven’t seen it yet.

I was going to suggest The Shining too. One of the few movies I actually had to stop watching and start again in the daylight.
White Noise freaked me out pretty bad too. And Insidious.

@AllieANT: I second Cabin in the Woods. I felt like it was a smart horror movie. Comedic, creepy, but so much more than a typical slasher flick.

@AllieANT: Awesome movie! Dawn of the Dead (2004) has always scared the shit out of me.

@melisandescott: I’m going to have to check it out.

I’m sure you’ve seen it, but I really like 28 Days Later. It all makes sense and for a horror movie has a happy ending, well if you don’t consider the alternate ending which turns the main character into a chicken. Seriously one of the funniest alt endings I’ve seen. LOL

@Arshim: Sinister! I slept with the lights on for a week, Fiance hated it ;P

@melisandescott: & @Pinkmoon: SUCH a smart horror movie. Also doesn’t hurt that I have the world’s biggest crush on Fran Kranz!

never heard of excision but I second vhs! I wish all the clips had a full length movie. Also second pp with cabin in the woods. Me and dh have seen many bad horror movies, hard to remember which were any good. Aside from vhs and cabin.
