@lavenderstone:  berricle has an emerald cut halo without a split shank. You should also check out lord of gem rings on etsy/ebay. If you want gold it will probably be a couple hundred dollars.

@lavenderstone:  If you got an Asha center stone and then saved and could later replace it with a diamond or maybe an AG Krupps moissy then that might be a way to bring the cost down. (Just because Ashas will cloud over time). Or what about getting it in 10k instead of 14k? That could save a few hundred.

ETA: Etsy, $83 https://www.etsy.com/listing/162422865/twisted-rope-engagement-ring-emerald-cut?ref=market

@lavenderstone:  Wow, beautiful and classy!

I would definitely recommend against sterling silver if you want the ring to last forever and keep the same look for long periods of time.

I think getting this look for less would be all about non-diamond stones. Have you looked into white topaz or moissanite? Both behave differently than diamonds but the difference is probably much less noticeable in a step cut (vs a round). The price is quite low with each. You can buy them loose and then have a setting made to copy this one.

There is also always CZ, but it won’t last forever.

My advice would be to go to Pricescope, post the ring you are interested in, and give them your budget. If anyone can get you the most for your money, it is the people there.

You could try moissanite as the center stone. Check out Joseph Schubach jewelers online. They can probably custom make it. They have lots of moissanite in stock and its abou 1/10th the price of a diamond
