Canadian Bees – What was the average costs you found for rentals? One of FI’s groomsmen is coming in from out of town this weekend, but doesn’t have a lot of time to shop around, so I’m trying to find out any information for them that I can!

@Ryansgirl: We are getting our rentals from Moores. There was a speacial and I think each guy is saving around $30 so their total is $137. or there abouts

When Darling Husband rented tuxes in the past, he paid anywhere from $80 to $200. We got ours from a local tailor who also rents out tuxes and it cost us $80 per person. Most places offer a discount where if you rent X number of tuxes, the groom’s is free.

Great, thanks for the info ladies. For some reason, I thought Moore’s had a bad rep, but apparently not!! Moore’s would be good since he can try stuff on back home too.

My guys are doing Moores, they are getting $30 and should be about $200 (before the discount) and that includes everything – vest, shirt, shoes & even socks! We also got a free rental (if you order 5 or more) that we’re giving to FI’s dad. The other great thing is you can pick out the tuxes but they can get measured at any Moores store.

We’re going through Freeman Formals, which supplies both Tip Top Tailors and Mr. Big and Tall, and with everything (vest, shoes, shirt, tux, top hat, tie and pocket square), they’re coming in at $205.

We went with Moores (but bought) and everything turned out fine.
Side note…I doubt they still have the special but when we bought, everyone in the wedding party got 50% off (we had to go to a wedding show to get this deal), so it ended up being cheaper or equal to just buy. Maybe you can check that out? I’m not sure if there’s any shows before your wedding date though.

@Ryansgirl: I hate moores! If you’re regular sized maybe it works but our men are on the smaller side slimmer. The shirts are absurd! They fit the neck and the neck only regardless of how else the shirt lays on you it doesn’t matter only the neck counts. Needless to say they sleeves fell so far down that the cuffs didn’t even touch his hands, 2 people could fit into the shirt and still button it up. Looked so freggin’ stupid tucked in.
I will *never* ever even consider renting from moores. Yes, they have a good deal but they really couldn’t care much less than hey, it stays on you so it must fit.

We were going to use Moore’s but decided against it for a couple of reasons. I had heard some bad reviews (not sure whether they are legitimate or not); they didn’t have an exact colour match for our shade of teal; and they also don’t carry rentals for ringbearer sizes. You can buy ringbearer sizes from them, but they didn’t have anything in the chocolate brown suit we were looking for.
We used Freeman Formals through Tip Top Tailor and LOVED them. It was $215 for each tux, which included shirt, tie, jacket, pants, pocket square, vest, and shoes. Our ringbearer was 35% off the full price and the groom was free because we had 5 other rentals.
Freeman’s chocolate brown tux was a much nicer chocolate colour than the Moore’s brown tux and the teal matched our colours perfectly! All the men wore the teal vest, but they also had a great assortment of ties to mix and match. Our groomsmen wore the solid teal ties, the ushers wore a black/teal tie, and DH wore a white/teal tie. The pocket square matched the ties.
Here’s a few pictures to show you how it turned out!

I just wanted to add that Freeman’s were awesome to work with. They even let us bring back the tuxes a day late without charging the late penalty because we live 2 hours from the nearest store.

We will be going with Freeman through Tip Top becasue of a couple reasons…Moores are limited selection, and only black ( we want grey)! None of their accenting pieces work for our wedding colours, and we have heard a lot of negative reviews about them over the years. Though we are not renting ties or shirts, we will be buying them ourselves.
