Tomorrow my Fiance and I are going to a wonderful bakery to have a tasting. This place has gotten amazing reviews from other brides, and has many options. Since my wedding is a summer one, I was thinking that I wanted a cake that was nice and light… fruity.
For those of you who are married, picked out your cakes already, etc… what types of “summer” cakes and flavors have you found to be delicious? Just curious as to what others have chosen and/or enjoyed!

I was thinking strawberry as well! And my florist (who works with this bakery often) said their strawberry is to die for! 🙂

One of our cakes was blueberry cake with a lemon curd filling and vanilla buttercream frosting… man it was good.

I really wanted a fresh strawberry cake but several bakers advised it isn’t always best to use fresh fruit. Something happens when they sit overnight. Sadness.
Anyway we decided on Vanilla Rum cake with Vanilla Creme filling. It is so light, moist and not at all too sweet. For my strawberry craving we are having bowls of fresh strawberries avaialble for people to snack on. I’m okay with that. 🙂

Personally, every wedding I’ve been too that has flavored cakes depsite how yummy they are, it never gets eaten. I went with a plain layer and a chocolate chip layer for my June wedding. Even though I love fruity summer flavors, I think a wedding cake is best to have some more “traditional” flavors. Maybe have the bottom layer (the biggest) (and your topper!!) be a fun flavor and the rest more traditional? That’s just my opinion. 🙂
