So my plan from the get go was to have a winter wedding in Tahoe and being able to go from a snowboarding paradise to tropical island for our honeymoon…. Unfortunately we just couldn’t make this a reality with elderly family and uncontrollable weather so we opted for a summer wedding up here in wine country (we currently live in santa rosa). I think the most important thing about weddings are the personal touches that reflect on who you are as a couple. We are getting married in a really rustic venue with a 100 year old barn, apple orchards, over looking vineyards and just an all out beautiful property (which totally reflects on our simle, country sides). My question for all you ski/ snowboard bunnies out there is how else I can incorporate our love for snowboarding without clashing with our rustic theme. I’ve named our tables after our favorite runs at northstar and no, one of those cheesy snowbording cake toppers is out of the question. Any other unique ideas would totally be appreciated!

You could have pictures (clothesline style or picture frames) of you and Fiance in the nsnow/snowboarding.
Maybe instead of cheesy caketoppers, you could do a grooms cake or a snowy mountain or a board or a boot!
Invitations/STDs/Programs could have a snowy mountain design.
Sounds like that would be fun wedding! I’ve never seen snow IRL.

ohhh i love the program idea! we just took our engagement pics so STD’s are out of the question but that would also have been a great one. Maybe this season we will have some pics taken too which we could incorporate into our wedding. Thanks for the advice! I love snow so much!! You really need to go sometime 🙂

No problem!
I’ve seen online country/rustic weddings with photos hung on clotheslines or strung on big picture frames. I think they look nice and would be something for the guests to talk about. Our wedding is gonna have a slightly rustic vibe too!

We had a modern mountain wedding…with a few touches of aviation, travel, ski themes…boy we sure had it all.
Most of our wedding was modern with rustic/mountain touches. Our STD’s were ski lift tickets, and our invitations looked like a vintage ski poster with modern sheets once they were removed from the pocket. We used vintage skiis for our guestbook.
We did incorporate aviation (hubby a pilot) into our grande entrance (top gun theme song with paper airplanes made from maps thrown to us) and bubble magnet favours (pics of airplane stuff). I feel these worked because of how they were done…still looked modern or rusticy.
To incorporate the ski/snowboard as we are huge skiers we had a photobooth with old ski/board wear from the past. That was our only “ski” element but again I feel it worked cause we used vintage props. People LOVED IT!

I feel that as long as you stay true to yourselves it will work!! Good luck.

You could get your guests to sign an old snowboard or skis for your guestbook:, or if you’ve already got a guest book sorted, use a snowboard to display photos of both of you. i.e. stick photos onto the snowboard and prop it up somewhere.

lol- unfortunately we’re not going with this theme anymore as our winter mountain top wedding has now become an autumn vineyard wedding! But it’s nice to live the dream through someone else!
Also you could attach a snowboard charm to your bouquet or use the ski theme as part of your favours?! Right need to get back to my wedding now! lol
