I used to live in Texas and I hated the summers. I couldn’t breathe because of the heat. I strongly suggest having air conditioning available close by for those guests that won’t be able to tolerate the heat. Also, something else to consider, how are you going to keep the food from spoiling in the heat?

I think it would be too hot- FH is from San Antonio and he says he would be cautious against since it could very easily be above 100. I spend about a week each August outside and that is not at all enjoyable, even if it were just for an hour.

@MsInterpret: Your friend’s offer might be your best bet. She could block off certain parts of her home, so that guests and their children would know that they are off limits.

And you could get event insurance from your insurance provider to cover any unexpected mishaps.

My wedding will be held in a private park in TX in June. I was also worries about the heat, so we decided to rent those big misting fans. I know it’s sounds undesirable to have misting fans at your wedding- LOL – but, we are hellbent on the park because it’s FREE and beautiful. We also decided to hold our wedding very late in the evening so it’s won’t be TOO hot.

The people who live in texas are used to the heat. Just make sure you dress in lighweight clothing and their is shade and pleanty of refreshments and it should be fine.

I’m north of Dallas and outdoor summer weddings are not fun.

We went to 2 100+ degree weddings last year.. One of them even had those outdoor cooling system things, and they didn’t really help.

I would stick with inside! You never get used to that kind of heat.

Yes, too hot.  Sounds like you have some other options though! Good luck!

Ick…That sounds utterly miserable to me!  I come from dry mountain air, so the thought of being outside in Texas when even 1 ounce of humidity makes me cringe.  Even all my family that lives in Texas and is “used to the heat” high tails it back in to wherever the A/C is when they get the chance. lol

Just because we’re used to heat doesn’t mean we like it. If there’s NOTHING to protect from the heat–no shade, no air, no nothing…then you’re looking at one miserable afternoon.

@MaiFuture: Oh girl, no.  I grew up in Galveston, which is not even as bad as SA because it’s on the water, but that summer heat…I would sweat through my nice wedding clothes in about 2 minutes.
