Myself and a few friends will be getting married in the next year. Shower conversations have started to happen. Some like Friday night, others like Sunday afternoons.
Friday Night: Can dress up a bit more, doesn’t take up guests entire week-end, or whole day.
Sunday Afternoon: More traditional, people have the morning to travel if needed.

I would vote for Sunday afternoon but your poll says “Saturday” afternoon (?). Did you mean to type Sunday?

HA! I think Friday nights are HARD for anybody that works through the week. People are generally tired and drained. By choosing Sunday afternoon, you’ve given people time to recover from the work week and I think they will be in happier spirits all the way around. Definitely go for Sunday, is my advice! (Also the bar bill won’t be as expensive on a Sunday for the host(s)… just a few bloody marys and mimosas.)

I’ve usually seen family type showers (the ones where you get mixers and dish towels and kitchen crap) done on Saturday afternoons, and bachelorette parties or lingerie showers done on Friday (or Saturday) nights.

I think it depends on what type of shower you want to have. If you want it more formal, then friday night. If you want the more traditional shower, then sunday. I once went to a shower that started at 10 am and the bride and her bridesmaids were all dressed up. It seemed kind of weird to be that fancy so early in the morning!

Sunday seems a little more fitting to me, unless it’s a shower with your girls only. Easier for travel, you can serve light food, etc.
