I’m not but went to a coworkers’ wedding last May and it was on Sunday. Beautiful afternoon outdoor wedding with reception inside after.
It was so fun and such a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon! Congrats to all Sunday brides.

Sunday bride here! It was the date my FH wanted, but as we have been planning it everything is cheaper – photog, venue, limo, DJ etc etc – what a good perk!

I am a Sunday bride too, 8-29-10! Its nice to see so many Sunday brides:) I was bummed at first to haver to have it on a Sunday (the next avail. Saturday at my location wasn’t until November 20 – which is my Birthday, ha). I just feel bad b/c a lot of guests are coming up from NY. The ceremony will start around 3/3:30 (not sure yet). We have the venue from 1pm till 10pm.

Sunday of Labor Day weekend! It’s kind of like a Saturday, though, because of the holiday. I did save some money on the venue, but the date was chosen mostly to allow for travel time the day before and after the wedding day.

Yay Sunday brides! Our venue was $7,500 for Saturday vs. $2,000 for Sunday, so there was really no question. I know it’s a bit of a pain for guests, and I feel bad about that, but as was pointed out to me, most out-of-towners take Friday off to travel anyway, so this is just a difference of taking Monday off instead. We’re hosting a send-off brunch on Monday. I’ll understand if some people can’t make it.
I’m finding that vendors are generally still available, even though I have a short planning window. My photographer offered a discount. Honestly, I don’t know why more people don’t get married on Sunday.

i’m a sunday bride! i got engaged in november and we basically had a choice of friday or sunday – all the saturdays were already booked for this coming august. my fiance and i have been together almost 6 years now and we just wanted to get this over with.
most of the things have been a piece of cake to get. we’re getting married in a church that has only one service on sundays and it’s at 10:30 am. it was also much easier to find a photog for a sunday wedding. the only thing that i’m actually quite pissed about is the fact that hair places aren’t open on sundays and they want to charge you an arm and a leg to either open the store for that day or to come to you. i finally found a company who will come to us and because they’re partnered with the hotel we’re staying at they won’t charge for travel. yay!
our reception venue has cake included, so we don’t need to find a baker and they also don’t have a minimum amount of guests for sundays. saturday would have to be 150 people.
so far nobody has complained about it being on a sunday, i think because it’s the summer and most people are making a vacation out of it.

Also another Sunday bride for the Jewish wedding reason. We are being even more annoying as its Sunday night. Our venue doesn’t close until 5, so my guess is the ceremony won’t be until 6:30 or 7:00 since we want to do pictures first. Its MLK weekend so schools and wall street are closed the following day which is why I didn’t feel bad about it.

10.10.10 Sunday Bride here to say “Hey!”

- Wedding: June 2010 - New York Botanical Garden
another Jewish Sunday bride here (and 6-6-10 too!) We are calling it for 11:30 actually and it is set to go until 4:30 pm. We did this intentionally so people could leave and get back for work on Monday without it being very late. I’m looking forward to all the sunshine (cross your fingers) and the uniqueness of a Sunday! (Though I can’t say I actually got that many deals because of it)

Hey! I’m a Sunday bride!
Our wedding is Sunday of Labor day weekend so most people will have the following day off. Fiance and I thought Labor Day weekend would be a good time of year to get married so when our venue offered us a Sunday discount we went for it!
I think other advantages of a Sunday wedding are that you can have the rehearsal dinner on Saturday night which is generally more convenient for people.
FI’s childhood pastor and close family friend will be marrying us outdoors in a maple grove at 5:15pm. He had no problem with officiating because he will be done with his church duties that morning.
Glad to see other Sunday brides chatting on weddingbee!

iggies- Glad you found a solution for the hair and makeup issues! Other Sunday brides, don’t let salons charge you a ton of money for Sunday services! I did a bit of research and found that bigger salons in my area and salons around malls (think Dino Palmeri types) ARE open on Sundays. I think I am going to end up with a local salon that is closed on Sundays, but is willing to open for a bridal party on a Sunday if enough salon staff can work.
Just suggesting that you do your research because options are out there! I personally was not willing to give the salons who wanted double pay for Sunday services!

@jaylii9 – oh i’m definitely going to write a blog post specifically about how outrageous some of the salons were and how you really need to do your homework, like you said. i tried to see if there were any salons around malls that were open on sundays, but most were almost an hour away! i kind of lucked out finding mine, i googled “wedding hair” in the town that we are having the wedding in and this mobile salon unit popped up. then i read further and found out that they are partnered with the hotel that i am staying at that weekend. it was so perfect!
i just wrote a blog post on how i became a sunday bride this morning!

I was a Sunday bride, it was a little less expensive than Saturday night. A few people complained about it being a Sunday but I’ve been to Friday night weddings, so whatever! Ours started at 3 and ended around 9:30. Worked out perfectly and had no problems with officiants…

I picked a Sunday too.
The venue was half the price and this way we can spend time with the few sets of guests that are coming on from out of town before the wedding.
The majority of my family only lives an hour or two away, so having a Sunday afternoon ceremony with a reception that ends at 6 means they won’t have to pay extra for a hotel room if they don’t want to.

Yep- Sunday, June 5,2011!
