So, I usually want skim & Fiance likes 2% so we compromise at 1%. However, I heard something recently on Dr. Oz that the more milk fat the better; otherwise it’s just sugar water and you are losing the nutrients the milk fat contributes. They recommend 2% so that’s what I’ve been getting lately.
What kind of milk do you buy?

I would die if I drank milk. My lactose tolerance has been shot the older I get. It sucks! ๐ I love ice-cream, but if the ice-cream is made from ice-milk, I cannot touch it.

We don’t buy milk. I eat my cereal dry and my husband puts half & half in his coffee and I put it in my tea.

I like to get light Soy vanilla flavor. I’m lactose intolerant.

@Cynderbug: My sister is lactose intolerant as well and it didn’t hit her until her late twenties. She likes that So Delicious dairy free “ice cream” that Target & Whole foods sells ๐

I drink Lactosse free milk. It wasn’t an option so I hit other. It’s regular milk without an enzyme from my understanding. We get skim or 1%. ๐

2%. Skim tastes like milk-flavored water and whole makes me gag.

@Skittles131: I mash bananas and freeze them. ๐ Add some nutella or peanut butter. Just as good!

I don’t understand what any of the options actually are, apart from skimmed and soy… but I drink semi-skimmed.

@Lepidoptera: It has extra enzyme (or bacteria the produce the enzyme) that converts the lactose sugar into other sugars.
I buy various milk substitutes. Whatever is fortified, on sale, and usually one that isn’t super high in sugar although I occassionally indulge, and that isn’t soy milk. For some reason soy milk upsets my GI tract too, other other forms of soy seem to be ok.
DH drinks 1%.

@Rachel631: I think that 1% and 2% are like you semi-skimmed, their fat content is between whole and skim milk.

We don’t drink or use a lot of milk, and Fiance is a little lactose intolerant, so we get almond milk, which also lasts longer. We like Almond Breeze Vanilla ๐
