    Based on how you’re describing your reception, if I were a guest, I’d love to pop open a beer- I’ve never played corn hole or ladder golf without an adult beverage in hand. ๐Ÿ™‚

    @babe_bamboo:  I’m not asking this to be rude but I’m just wondering, if you are providing background music are you going to tell people that they are not allowed to dance? I know that my group of friends will dance in an elevator if there’s music.

    I’m having a Saturday lunch reception at a state park, music but minimal dancing, we’re not doing a full bar/liquor but we will have wine/beer/champagne and we’re having a friend of a friend “bartend”.

    @mishagirls79:  +1

    I don’t drink, ever. But one of the first things that pops into my mind when I think reception is alcohol. My family & friends think the same way.

    I find nonalcoholic receptions to be rather bland and boring. I think there’s only ONE i had a good time at.

    @hma812:  I’m sure when there is soft (ie background) music and not a set up dance area, very few people will get up and spontaneously rock out. And I’m sure OP won’t tell them not to ๐Ÿ˜‰

    I say no alcohol.

    I wouldn’t drink it and I think it’s a little silly to expect alcohol at a Sunday picnic lunch, especially with no dancing. At the very most I might provide some beer, if that’s popular with your set.

    Yes to alcohol!  At least beer or some sort of festive punch!

    We were married on a Sunday afternoon and did not serve alcohol. We are not big drinkers and some members in our family are however …. it was on our dime so we provided sparkling water, pop, bottled water, apple and cranberry juice as well as coffee and tea. There were no issues, people are there to celebrate your wedding and can live without alcohol for a few hours… it’s a Sunday afternoon!! if you cannot attend a wedding w/o it then that is the real issue.

    I said yes but I would probably just serve some sort of beer and/or wine coolers.

    @the boss of you:  I love you. And now I’m wondering how we can incorporate that image into our wedding invites!

    @babe_bamboo:  Great choices! Your reception sounds great!

    We are sort of doing something similar for our garden ceremony – it is at lunchtime and we’re going to serve sandwiches and cupcakes immediately after the ceremony to people while we’re having our photos done, plus have lawn games as well. We’re having champagne, cider, Pimms (alcoholic punch), non-alco punch, fruit juice, Italian soft drinks (Aranciata, San Pellegrino etc) and maybe some retro Cokes (the ones in glass bottles!). These will go better with the mood that being a full-on booze-fest,
