chaibella:  I would attend an AM ceremony as a guest.  Sorry, but I am not a morning person.

Beach wedding photograher here. Sunrise weddings are miserable for guests. In my career I’ve only had to do a handful, and consistantly, those attending are always griping about being up so early. From a photography POV, sunrise is a very short window of pretty light. After that, it’s incredibly bright and not that desireable for photographing. Alos, if you’re thinking summer, it’s going to be hot. Depending on the beach, very few offer any shaded areas, so squinting is a huge issue. From a technical standpoint, a good photographer can shoot in any lighting conditions. But, it’s like I tell my clients – it doesn’t matter how great the background is, if you can’t keep your eyes open.

You can still have a morning ceremony and brunch reception, I’d just reconsider a different location than the beach for a morning ceremony.

Have you decided what beach area you’re considering for your wedding? There are plenty of places that offer a more private beach without having to make your guests get up at 5:30am. 😉

In a non-professional capcity, I attended a sunrise wedding last year as a guest. I love the couple, so I was happy to attend, but I won’t lie and say it didn’t suck a little bit. When I am up at sunrise it’s to work out, so having to get up and get presentable and be AT the beach for sunrise in the summer means being AT the beach by 5:30am.

chaibella:  It would suck for guests, sure, but it would suck for you too!! You and your poor wedding party, officiant, wedding team, photographer, etc would essentially have to start getting ready at midnight the night before! It takes HOURS to get ready for a wedding and get everything set up. You would also miss out on taking photos before the ceremony, because I’m assuming that you want them done in the daylight. Then that makes your poor wedding party have to stick around for much longer than what’s typical after the ceremony to play catch up. I also doubt that you would be able to find the necessary workers to agree to this kind of request…unless you are willing to pay something RIDICULOUS to compensate for everyone’s suffering. Unfortunately that’s what it would be…suffering. This is a great way to unintentionally torture a lot of people and have them make snarky remarks forever about your big day. I’m sure that’s the LAST thing that you want!
