I adopted a solid black kitten from a local shelter yesterday – I had heard the call for help on the radio from the management of the shelter stating that they were inundated with kittens of all sizes and ages, including adult cats. All black and orange/white kittens were only $13 until Halloween. There was only 1 black kitten left, quiet but blue/green eyes shining bright. I opened the kennel and held him and my heart strings were yanked real hard in one direction: I have to take you home, I love you. So I filled out the paperwork and was approved. His name given to him at the shelter was, “Bud” but my fiance said that he wanted to name him. I said as long as I approve – then its a go. So he came up with Toby (No), Timmy (No), then I asked him if he was only thinking of “T” names and he said “Yes, I want him to have a T – name because he is Terrific” – Then he thought for awhile and said, “Theodore?” and I said, ” (gasp) That’s it, I love it, can he be Theo for short?” “Perfect. Theo it is, full name Theodore.” We are super excited, he is a very mellow kitten and we are supplementing him with milk replacement because he is so tiny (around 5-6 weeks) – and he is transitioning to soft food-then hard food. He has 3 adult cat friends and 1 Lab. So our family is now complete. We feel so blessed to have a total of 4 adopted/rescued cats! What a great feeling to have in our hearts, we learn so much from them.

We just got a two month old tuxedo nine days ago and named my boy Max. He has green eyes too. We have a second home near OC, MD. Took him there this weekend. He meowed one time on the Bay Bridge. That’s all. He’s going to be a traveling kitty, in his carrier and seat belted.

Oh gosh, kittens. You’re a great person for taking a black cat–there are still superstitions about them, and lots of bad things happen to them this time of year. : We have a big black cat that we adopted who tugged at my heart strings the second I saw him. 🙂

Congrats! That is so exciting. Thank you so much for helping out a little black cat, especially this time of year. 🙂 I love his name.

@newbabybee: congrats on the kitten!
Now that you posted about a cute kitty you must show at least 1 picture of the adorableness.
