    I just don’t think most people will understand it. I know I wouldn’t.

    I’d 20,000% do this. But, then again, husband and I are huge geeks/gamers/what have you.

    Edit: The wonder twins are from 1977… so they’re not too old. Anyone who’s existed long enough has probably heard of ’em the last few decades.

    Personally I LOVE nerdiness/dorkiness. That being said… I always remember my best friend’s advice when told him, “Hey fiancé wants his best men wearing Harry and Lloyd tuxes from Dumb and Dumber, what do I do?” He said to me, “I understand that you want your wedding to be unique and all about you two and how you live your lives, but don’t make your f’ing ceremony a joke.” I always remember that. However much you want you ceremony to be about what you two love, part of you is getting married because society will view the two of you differently, and part of this difference is how seriously they will take your relationship. Don’t make it a joke. Make it very serious with lightheartedness scattered throughout your vows. Truly, you want everyone to respect your relationship, otherwise, why invite anyone?

    A lot of people would have no idea – I certainly wouldn’t. I wonder if it would be more appropriate to do it in the reception, e.g. during your entrance. (So I voted “other”)

    I think it would be better used to have some themed decorations or menu items or drinks or whatever, but acting something out from that theme is where I’d draw the line personally. I have never heard of these twins either so I’d be super confused.

    i agree with paula1248… maybe it would be appropriate during your reception somehow? i think it’s a cute idea but i wouldn’t want to take away from the seriousness of your ceremony.

    I love the wonder twins, I grew up with the Hall of Justice. I think that it would be better as a reception entrance, but I love the concept.

    My Darling Husband and I are super nerdy. We mentioned something from Star Wars in our vows and walked out of the ceremony to one of the songs from it. I disagree with PPs that it will detract from the seriousness of your ceremony. Ours was beautiful and meaningful and had many special readings from the bible and poetry, as well as serious traditional vows and music. Adding a touch of your geeky personality in there is awesome because it’s something you and your hubby enjoy.

    In My Humble Opinion, who cares if anyone else “gets it” other than you. The reception is for guests, the ceremony is for you and your husband.

    I should probably mention we had Darth Vader escort us to our cake cutting table, mentioned the Avengers and Firefly in our speeches, and rick-rolled everyone. Our wedding was incredibly geeky and “us” and I wouldn’t change it for the world!

So I might be biased about dorky stuff, but our wedding was incredibly geeky and “us” and I wouldn’t change it for the world!

    If you are worried about what people think how about adding a little comment in the program…something that says that you have added a few things throughout your day that specifically pertain to you and your FH And if you want to know more just ask! I believe that most people understand that a wedding should reflect the couple and if that is the way then why not?!

    I have to add…my FH is a huge gamer and I’m a geek too (Dr Who is awesome! I know shameless plug…deal with it!) We also met onstage (amateur actors) during Christmas Carol and are having a Victorian Steampunk wedding. We have asked everybody to get into the ‘spirit’ of things and dress up as well. Is this detracting from the seriousness? Not a chance! It is showing people that we completely understand and accept each other for who we are…NERD AND ALL!

    @prettypincushion:

    Hardly anyone will understand, you’ll probably get a couple quiet chuckles from the few who do get the reference and silence from everyone else.  It will be awkward.  Maybe do it at some point in the reception instead, like when you do your grand entrance?  Those are often funny or silly so even if they don’t really get the joke they probably will feel okay about laughing anyway.  Doing that in your ceremony will make people uncomfortable I think.

    I think it’d be really cute to do entering the reception maybe, but as part of the ceremony I would find it awkward, personally
