So, my Fiance did a portrait of us and our dogs for our wedding invites (which I posted on here a while ago and got fantastic feedback) and we sent them out last week—everyone has been raving about them. I’m trying to convince my Fiance to offer his artistic services to other couples who want fun/unique invites (plus an awesome painting as a keepsake hanging in their home!). Before I mention it to him again–or set up an online shop for him (I tend to get ahead of myself, oops)–I wanted to see you if you all think this is something people would be interested in??? I saw one seller on Etsy selling hand-painted invites but my FI’s style is totally different…although he could really do anything the couple wanted. Here is the one he did for ours in case you didn’t see my previous thread 🙂

Love it! I think it would be a great idea to sell them!

Thanks guys! I’m going to see if I can convince him to set up an Etsy shop or something 🙂

I think there would definitely be interest in that kind of thing, but I find that making things for “clients” takes the love/fun out of making stuff sometimes. If he’s hesitant to go forward, I don’t think I’d push him.

@SapphireSun: i totally agree with you! He paints for a living though and often does commissioned pieces so this would be along the same lines. I def won’t push it though–I just like to make suggestions and be supportive 🙂

I think that people would be interested in invites like that. I do, however, agree with what SapphireSun said about not pushing him if he doesn’t show any further interest in it if you talk to him again.
If he would enjoy doing those paintings and making a little money off of them I’m sure there are plenty of brides who would love his unique style. I probably wouldn’t use something like that since I love doing my own DIY invites, but I could see asking him to simply do a portrait like you said in your post.

Love it and I would have purchased them if I saw a shop like that!

I absolutely LOVE this idea. Right up my alley (and SO’s too.)
