So, before I even bought my wedding dress I would regularly browse Etsy looking at wedding jewelry and I FELL IN LOVE with the pearly necklaces that have like 3 strands of pearls and then a brooch to the side like this one:
I already have earrings (they were my grandmother’s) and they’re simple yet elegant. They’re like a half hoop (platinum, yikes, haha) then with a medium sized pearl hanging from them. And there are little diamonds in the half hoop. And I was just kind of assuming I would get a strapless, sweatheart gown which this type of necklace and my earrings woudl look GORGEOUS with. Well, I actually fell in love with a gown that has one sleeve. I’m sure you’ve seen the pictures of me in it all over the bee, because I’m obsessed and will show it to anyone who asks, haha but here it is again just in case:
I LOVE this dress, I started to cry when I put it on, it embodies EVERYTHING I want my wedding to be. But, in my opinion, I could not wear the type of necklace I’ve been lusting over with that darn sleeve.
The sleeve is cool, it makes the dress unique, and I love the flowers on it…but what about my dream necklace! Then I thought, hell, I’ll kill the sleeve, use the flowers on it to make my headpiece (no veil for this bride). Heck, with the number of flowers on the sleeve I could experiment with like 8 different varieties of headpieces, haha.
But without the sleeve I feel like the dress kind of loses some of its cool. I would still love the dress, the sleeve isn’t what won me over, the rest of the dress is, but I feel like it would lose its unique-ness.
So hive, what do you think…keep the sleeve and forget about the necklace (but still wear my gram’s gorgeous earrings)? Kill the sleeve and find my dream necklace? Do you think it would be possible to have the best of both worlds…the sleeve and the necklace? Or do you have some other idea (if so, please elaborate below).
