Okay. Hear me out. I LOVE flowers. I pick them up from time to time and love getting them from Kroger. I just had the crazy idea of ordering my wedding flowers from them. I read a bunch of reviews from brides who also had the marvelous idea and they said they saved a bundle DIY. I could totally make the centerpieces and boquets so it isnt like I would have to depend on the grocery store to arrange them, just to have them when I need them. Do you think this is a good idea or ridiculous?

I think it’s a great idea if you have the time for it. I totally would have done this if I didn’t have to work the day before my wedding 🙂

Did you end up doing it? I’m thinking about having a supermarket do mine, but am wondering if they can get dahlias etc.

@fernginger: The answer is no. Dahlias aren’t in season in October so I was told that IF they could get them, it would be at a premium (she really emphasized the “IF”). They’re my favorite flower and my ONLY request for all of our florals (all I wanted was a few blooms in my bouquet, that’s it). Oh well, I’ll get over it.
As for using the supermarket flowers, I don’t really have it in me to assemble my own arrangements the day before or morning of our wedding but we are using the supermarket florist. Their work is fantastic (I’ve been ordering arrangements from them for years) and the prices are amazing. We were quoted less than half of what the other florists wanted to charge us.
ETA: Now that I think about it, I know nothing about flowers so maybe they could be in season in other parts of the country (no clue how that works). We’re in Upstate, NY so if you’re in the Northeast you’re pretty much SOL.
