Not sure where to put this, wellness or fitness. So here will work.
We started the atkins diet today. No carbs. No bread. No pasta. No pizza.
I did this cold turkey and I’m def. paying the price of it today. My head is pounding and I’m trying not to fall asleep at work. I talked to my cousin and she said her husband did it and he felt the same way for the first 3 days. Is this really normal?
I just want to lay down and there are moments I feel I want to vomit. Please tell me this feeling doesn’t last forever. I’m doing this to try and get a jumpstart to losing weight the right way. The wedding is in 6 wks and my dress is very snug right now.

Why dont you start buy reducing carbs, rather than cutting them out completely? This will allow your body to gradually adjust. Carbs are actually very important and give your body energy so this is probably why you arent feeling so hot

I’m eating/drinking some. I had a glass of OJ today that was about 100 carbs.

I felt that way when I started the Paleo Diet, which is essentially the Atkins diet, but you can eat fruit and not dairy.
It will get better! I think I had about three days of feeling kind of dizzy/weird.

Please, please don’t do the Atkins diet! It’s terrible for you. Plus, depriving yourself of so many foods you like long-term usually only eats to eventually overeating and gaining back all the weight you lost.
Have you considered doing Weight Watchers? You’ll lose weight without having to cut anything from your diet. It’s all about portion control, making smart choices, and understanding that everything is okay in moderation. Plus, it’s actually sustainable long term.

Day 2 wasn’t as bad as day 1 but I still had the headache and tired for most of the day. By day 3 I was pretty much okay, day 4 was fine and today is day 5 and so far so good. I’m getting pretty sick of chicken but found out I can eat jello so I stoked today! I’ve lost an inch so far off my waist but that’s pretty much it. I’m hoping that next week will have better results than this week but I haven’t caved or cheated!
