I am really scared to go in for surgery tomorrow. I don’t like the idea of anthesia, although I have had it before. I am scared that I won’t wake up. It’s a LEEP procedure, and fairly common, and even though i met with my doctor and asked questions I am still really scared.

Oh bless you… I know it’s scary!
Can you maybe watch a really good movie or something just to try to keep your mind occupied?

I made the mistake of watching Private Practice today! I wasn’t even thinking

((hugs)) Trust in your doctors. It will be okay. Curl up with a movie and some comfort food and try not to think about it.

Hang in there! This is very common, I know lots and lots of women who’ve had this procedure and they described it as very similar to a having a biopsy. Sending you good thoughts!! It will be over before you know it!

Good luck! I’ve had a few minor surgeries and I always build it up in my head so much before the date and when it happens, no matter how panicky I am, I’m out like a light and wake up hungry and confused. Trust your doctors, they know what they are doing. When I get routine procedures I’m usually comforted by the fact that to them “it’s just another surgery” kind of deal. Routine and easy for them, just another day at the office. Maybe having that mind set will help. Private Practice always has crazy scernario, be comforted by the fact that your procedure is so boring it wouldn’t even make the storyline haha

@mainejen: Hi Pepper. Sorry you are stressed. I am an anesthesiologist- are they any questions that I can answer for you to ease your mind a little? (Obviously I can’t give out medical advice over the internet, but I can try to answer some general questions for you, if you like.) Good luck with your procedure.

I know it’s probably too late for this for you, but I had a surgery consult today and the Dr said he’d give me a prescription for Valium or Xanax for the night before to help relax me if I need it…
