I know I just posted another question, but what can I say, I have a lot going on at the moment!
Today, in a rather spur-of-the-moment decision, my mom and I went down to a little bridal boutique to try on wedding dresses. To be honest, the place is really small (it’s where my sisters and I have all found our prom dresses, and that’s most of the business they do), so I expected to be able to try a couple silhouettes, but not really find anything. I had an appointment set for davids bridal for the end of January to try on lots of stuff, but now I’m not sure I’ll be able to wait that long.
We ended up finding two dresses that are an AMAZING price that I absolutely love. One reminds me vaguely of Jenny Packham’s dresses, and the other strikes me as just classy and simple.
Now I’ve moved my Davids bridal appt. up to this weekend so that we can go back to this place and buy if we don’t find anything better. I was sorely tempted to buy one today, but I’m just not comfortable settling on a wedding dress after only having tried on a handful of styles. I sort of wish I hadn’t done this, as I’d intentionally planned on going to DB first so that I wouldn’t feel a huge pressure to buy since most things can be ordered and I could shop around a bit, but who knows-maybe one of those is the one, and I wouldn’t have found it otherwise!
Whatever the case, let me know what you think! And learn from my (maybe)mistakes!

scipioblack : Those are quite impressive embellishments on the first dress! However, the lace somehow “defeats” them. Not too certain about the second dress. I think David’s Bridal has great option for you:

These are both gorgeous from the back, dress one obviously fits better especially from the front so it’s slightly harder to envision dress two properly fitted and whether it would suit you. They’re both perfectly bridal but I don’t see any reason to buy it now, wait until you’ve had your other appointments so you have something to compare with. Unless the deal is so good you might have two dresses, in which case buy dress 1 for the reception.

I like the backs on both, but I honestly don’t care for the front of either. The first one looks more prom/pagent-like to me, and the second one looks a little..matronly (for lack of a better word). Keep looking. I think you’re going in the right direction shape wise.

I agree with pp… I like the backs but not sold on the fronts. At least you know you like illusion backs! I’d keep looking.

Yes I agree, nice backs but not so good from the front, esp round the belly area .

I’m not crazy about the design and construction of these two gowns. You have an amazing figure, and these dresses detract from it. The front of the first one has too much going on. The embellishments are competing with the lace. As for the second one, I’m not crazy about the embroidery/lace appliqué patterns.
Keep your appointment at David’s and try on a few more. Try a few other bridal salons as well. I’m confident you’ll find some dresses that will be extremely flattering on you!
