- Wedding: December 2014
So I have no idea why the thought of my grandmothers wedding album never occured to me until the morning of my wedding day when my uncle had it waiting on the table for me…..
My grandmother passed away when I was in 5th grade and to this day I miss her and think about her all the time, I was her “little girl” we were inseperable. I lived with her before she passed (she had cancer and so I stayed with her to keep her company) I can remember making my mom drag me crying down the hospital hallways when I had to go home from visitng her because I just wanted to be with her.
I have grown up being arround her wedding pictures, but only a select few, one is of her looking at herself smiling in the mirror, and a few others are with my great grandparents my Ma and Pa.
Never once did I ever stop and think to ask if my grandmother had a wedding album, I guess it’s just one of those things that you just don’t realize because I mean really it seems funny thinking of my grammy posing for pics they way brides do now.
Well my uncle pulled out her album the morning of my wedding, and he had gone through and tagged the pages of the poses that he wanted me to do. This little moment is one of the most special memories I have of that day. I know my grammy was looking over me all day that day, but being able to flip through the pages of her wedding album, and be able to pose in the exact ways she did was amazing. And they aren’t stuffy poses either my grammy had a saucy side lol, my moh and I did my putting on the garter shot in the exact way that my grammy and my great aunt did, I got to pose for my own mirror shot exactly like she did. Also some of my group shots with my bm’s were modeled after the ones she had taken with her wedding party.
So for you bees missing your grandparents on your big day, ask to see their album, they are amazing! I can’t wait to have my shots framed in a double frame with her pictures right next to mine! I mean really I couldn’t think of a better way to feel closer her to her on my wedding day then being able to live some of it through her pictures.
